Marla was born in Huntington, Indiana on June 20, 1977.  Marla obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Environmental Science in May of 1999 from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana.  Marla obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree from Valparaiso University School of Law in May of 2004.  From 2004 through 2007, Marla was in private practice in Huntington, Indiana.
