Ray was
born in Ashland, Wisconsin on May 5, 1952. He
obtained Bachelor degrees (Magna cum Laude) in
chemistry and political science (with Departmental
Distinction) from Northland College in Ashland,
Wisconsin. Ray obtained his Doctor of Jurisprudence
degree (cum Laude) from Notre Dame University. He
was in private practice for two years in South Bend,
Indiana then worked as an in-house Patent Attorney
for The Trane Company, where his technical
responsibilities included industrial heat exchangers
and heat pumps. For sixteen years Ray was in the
Patent Department of Beloit Corporation (a worldwide
supplier of equipment for the pulp and paper
industry), Division of Harnischfeger Industries,
serving first as Assistant Patent Counsel, then
Patent Counsel and finally as Chief Patent Counsel.
Ray was a regularly scheduled guest lecturer on
Intellectual Property Law in the Blackhawk
Vocational School Legal Secretary Program. |
